KOLO55 is Paul Ritch’s newest transmission, no-frills, maximum payload. Focused on high-velocity hardware funk and low-end pressure, the project trades polish for thrill, turning every set into an underground proceeding. The groove isn’t just fast, it’s ballistic, mapped to the rawer circuits of techno’s instinctive core.
Nostalgia replaced with rework. The 909 grit is recalibrated, disco loops injected at sharp angles, and syncopation used like a timing valve on the verge of detonation. In recent performances, KOLO55’s output channels the same energy as riding the edges between brutalist environments, post-industrial dystopia and trippy techno.
Having launched his eponymous label with ‘Onyx’ and a streak of riotous EPs, KOLO55 is less a name than an operational term. Dancefloors aren’t warmed up, they’re put under duress. The dance is the stress response. And the system? Holding.
