"I chose this because I'm underground"
As the guys at Fabric put it, it's pretty hard to talk about Detroit's DJ Bone without using the word 'underground'. Bone rose through the Detroit ranks via his weekly sets at the Love Club (The Shelter) where his techno selections earned him the kind of dedicated following DJs only dream about. At one point he had so many residencies at different clubs in the Motor City he was playing five nights a week, rubbing shoulders behind the decks with everyone from Juan Atkins to Jeff Mills. He is the boss of two of Detroit's most rarefied labels, and has shown an unwavering commitment to his cause through his own output as a producer, releasing an album, Out Of Nowhere and a whole bunch of raw 12"s and EPs that routinely get called things like 'special' and 'other worldly.'
